Blowing up Bushwick: A Novel and Manual
As a kid, Miguel fled the political violence in Mexico for the street violence of 1977 Brooklyn. The friendships he forged amid the crumbling landscape and burgeoning New York punk scene are boisterous, self-effacing, at times criminal, but always built upon loyalty and the code of the street.
But today, the Bushwick Miguel remembers no longer exists. Most of his friends are either dead or locked up, and while he doesn't miss being jumped by gangbangers, he finds no solace with the wealthier transplants brunching at the boutique waffle house that replaced his bodega.
When Miguel witnesses the police murder an unhoused man at a local park, the only things more violent than his flashbacks are the fascist gangs, NYPD, and their robot dogs that descend upon the protest encampment at the park to brutalize the demonstrators. Can Miguel speak his truth about what he's seen—even after being doxxed by Neo-Nazis? Can Bushwick be saved?
*Blowing Up Bushwick: A Novel and Manual, is no graphic novel–it is the first ever punk rock-illuminated manuscript, consisting of 50+ handmade wood/linoleum prints and illustrations– with absolutely no AI slop.

Most of his friends are either dead or locked up, and while he doesn't miss being jumped by gangbangers, he finds no solace with the wealthier transplants brunching at the boutique waffle house that replaced his bodega. This is as much a story about the development of Miguel Martinez, a working class Mexican immigrant, and the neighborhood around him being gentrified into a hipster theme park.
